MRC Family Support and Education
January 8, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The topic this week is “Embracing your Story: Telling your story brings hope to others and the Community“.
The recovery community is strengthened when families add their voices because family support is vital to building recovery in the community. (The concept of ‘families of choice‘ is intended to capture the commitment of chosen, rather than fixed, relationships and ties of intimacy, care and support.) Our intention is to promote healing and long-term recovery for all. Education, support services and advocacy result in healthier individuals, families and communities.
*Barbara Krovitz-Neren, MA, is the author of: Parenting the Addicted Teen, a 5-Step Foundational Program which will be available for purchase at this meeting. She has been a youth and parenting advocate for more than thirty-five years. She coaches parents of teens and young adults who are chemically dependent or have mental health challenges and consults with programs to enhance parent involvement in recovery.
**You will learn about the effects of addiction/mental health challenges on parenting teens or young adults who have been through treatment or who are currently still using drugs/alcohol. You will be introduced to 5 strategies to help you maintain a healthier family system where addiction will no longer rule your parenting.
