Moyers is the vice president of public affairs and community relations for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation\, based in Minnesota. As the organization’s public advocate since 1996 Moyers carries the message about addiction\, treatment and recovery to audiences across the nation. In his long career he has appeared on Larry King Live\, the Oprah Winfrey show\, Good Morning America and National Public Radio. Moyers is the author of several books including Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption\, a New York Times best-selling memoir published in 2006 that is still in print today. His follow-up memoir titled Broken Open: What Painkillers Taught Me About Life and Recovery\, was published in September\, 2024.\nMoyers and his wife\, Nell Hurley\, live in Saint Paul. Between them they have four adult children. \n  \n  \nEducation Hour: 9:45—10:45 am\, lower level dining room\nLearn about Harm Reduction through Mateo’s Message \n\n\nDusti Handlos Swanson is a board member of Mateo’s Message and Mateo’s eldest sister. Dusti has worked with youths experiencing homelessness and is now the Wellness Coordinator with Saint Paul Public Schools where she has brought Naloxone training to educators\, bus drivers\, and security officers. Through Mateo’s Message\, she has also been able to bring opioid reversal supplies to communities around the Twin Cities area with the hopes of expanding even more. \n  \n  \nTerri Swanson is the Executive Director of Mateo’s Message and Mateo’s mom. Mateo’s Message is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit whose grass-roots effort is to reduce the number of deaths related to accidental fentanyl poisoning. Their mission is to inform\, educate\, encourage\, and equip recreational users with knowledge and supplies to ensure the drugs they take are fentanyl- free.
