$15.00A Different Kind of Grief℠
The client grief process from an overdose or addiction-related death
We are excited to host Gloria Englund, MA, psychotherapist, author, Recovery Coach, and accomplished public speaker for a half-day training this Spring. Gloria is the founder of Recovering u, and offers highly acclaimed support groups for those who have lost a loved one to addiction.
The stigma and shame surrounding the disease of addiction (that often keeps clients from seeking support after addiction-related deaths) can be lessened through education and understanding the role this disease plays in the grief process. The intersection of trauma and grief, the client’s need to receive support for their loss, self-care practices, and the understanding of Post-traumatic Growth are paramount to supporting this kind of bereavement.
P A R T I C I P A N T S CAN EXPECT TO
• Examine and recognize how the interplay of stigma, shame, and trauma of addiction may block the grief process.
• Review and discuss research about the Dual Process Model of Coping from Bereavement.
• Explore how Post-traumatic Growth may present as part of the healing process
This activity is approved by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy for 3 hours of credit for LADC, LPC, and LPCC. The Retreat is a State of Minnesota Board of Social Work approved Continuing Education Partner.
